Reasons to Have Genital Aesthetic Operations

Women generally experience problems with their genitalia due to reasons evident at birth, childbirth and ageing. These problems can negatively affect women’s and their partners’ sex lives. While this is seen as a taboo subject, it is well known that major changes can be achieved with very small surgical interventions. Operations can be performed to correct problems such as defects, asymmetry and sagging in the vaginal lips.

Surgical Methods

Genital area aesthetic operations can be carried out individually or in tandem.

Fat Injections: The genital area loses fat tissue and the outer vaginal lips thin and sag after extreme weight loss, the effects of gravity and advancing age. Fat taken from other parts of the patient’s body is purified and then injected into both the pubic area and the outer vaginal lips, creating a full and youthful appearance.

Labiaplasty: This is a surgical procedure to reduce the inner lips due to differences in shape, size and appearance of the outer genital area. Whereas the size of a normal person’s labia is 1.5cm, those of patients who choose to undergoe a labiaplasty are approximately 4cm. Sensory organs are protected during the procedure to attain the desired appearance.

Vaginoplasty: This is a surgical procedure used to correct increased elasticity of the vagina’s outer walls resulting from pregnancy and childbirth. This problem can be resolved by narrowing the vagina with a simple surgical procedure.

Hymen Reconstruction: The hymen can be repaired with stiches, but the success of the procedure depends on when the tear occurred and how the tissue responds to treatment. The main aim of this procedure is to regain the hymen’s former anatomic structure and ensure bleeding during the first instance of sexual penetration following the procedure.

Type of Anaesthetic and Length of Procedure

This is a delicate surgical intervention that needs to be performed in an operating theatre. It can be performed under general or local anaesthetic or under sedation. Genital aesthetic operations last between 1-2 hours depending on the method and procedure.

Recovery Period

Most genital area aesthetic operations are not painful and what instances of pain that do occur can be easily managed with painkillers. Most patients are able to return home the same day.

Things to Pay Attention to Post-Surgery

• You can shower 2 days after the procedure.
• It is necessary to clean the area with a special solution after a labiaplasty or a vaginoplasty.
• It is necessary to pay extra care when sitting and standing up.
• Sexual relations should be avoided for 3 weeks (may be different in hymen reconstruction cases).
